It took me about 70 minutes to get to the lighthouse from Petaluma where I was staying for 5 days. I waited until 11 to leave because the weather forecast said the fog would burn off in the afternoon…Full review by ChinaShrek

My husband and I went to this lighthouse in the early 80's. It was so beautiful, the ocean view was amazing. Staff was great. My only thing was the stairs. That's a lot of stairs to go down and the…Full review by Alexandria A

Recommend you start at the Visitor Center; the earthquake loop from the parking lot is pretty flat and would accommodate your medical chair. There are lovely views of the ocean from the parking lots. There area couple of handicap parking spaces (access through a gate) and you may be able to use your chair the short distance from there to the view area above the lighthouse. Good luck! I hope you enjoy your trip.

I most certainly would recommend renting a car. If you've never been to Monterey, that would be a great treat. You can visit the 17 Mile Drive on Pebble Beach. Along the way there's Santa Cruz, and I highly recommend taking Highway 1 from SF to Monterey, even as far as Big Sur. If you decide to primarily stay North of SF, then, of course there Big Sur, Napa Valley and the all the wineries along the North Coast. Have Fun.
I read somewhere that it is an hour drive from the entrance of the park to the lighthouse? Is that accurate?

Its a pretty but long winding road to the door of the light house. Its a big place and the scale of the map might be larger than you think. And then you park at a lot and hike further up the road to the buildings above the light house, and then the stairs down as you may have seen in the photos.
