Lee reveals that his upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest is set in the music industry, with A$AP playing "the main role"

Kurosawa’s High and Low is loosely based on Ed McBain/Evan Hunter’s 1959 novel, King’s Ransom. The Japanese crime film follows a company executive who becomes a victim of extortion when his employee’s son is kidnapped for ransom. It starred Toshiro Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai.

In April, it was revealed that Ice Spice would make her acting debut in Spike Lee’s English-language reinterpretation of the 1963 Akira Kurosawa crime thriller High And Low alongside Denzel Washington.

A$AP Rocky has been confirmed to star in Spike Lee's upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest, a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa's High & Low. Also starring Denzel Washington, the Apple Original film is set for a theatrical release with a subsequent streaming release on Apple TV+.

In a recent interview with Deadline, director Spike Lee spoke about his forthcoming film, Highest 2 Lowest, and revealed that A$AP Rocky is part of the casting.

The rapper is starring in "Highest 2 Lowest," Spike Lee's upcoming reimagining of Akira Kurosawa's "High and Low" that also stars Denzel Washington. A$AP Rocky's casting was rumored after set photos circulated of him in character as Yung Felon.

Spike Lee spoke warmly of his long-time working relationship and friendship with Denzel Washington in a conversation at the Red Sea Film Festival on Tuesday. Lee is currently in post-production on Highest 2 Lowest,
