Arsenal’s long chase for Viktor Gyokeres may soon come to a frustrating end — and not in the way fans had hoped. Despite weeks of talks, back-and-forth offers, and headlines, the move from Sporting CP to North London is now hanging by a thread.

Arsenal are in the process of completing a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres after taking final steps in negotiations with Sporting CP for the striker. Talks have been prolonged by Sporting president Frederico Varandas refusing to accept what Gyokeres believes was an agreement to leave this summer for €60million plus €10m of add-ons.

The report states that Arsenal and Gyokeres’ camp presented a deal that guaranteed Sporting a fixed sum of €70million (£60.8m) plus €10m (£6.95m) in add-ons. However, the dialogue between the three parties hit a roadblock on Monday and negotiations are ‘at risk of collapsing completely’.
