The second person wanted in connection with the shooting of a 2-year-old in Detroit has turned himself in to police.

DETROIT – Police are searching for Darius Lacey, 27, who they say allegedly shot a 2-year-old on Detroit’s east side. The shooting occurred on Tuesday (Nov. 26) in the 553 block of Dickerson Avenue at 6:48 p.m. Officials say the child was shot in the leg and was taken to a Metro Detroit hospital by a member of the family.

A child was shot in Detroit on Tuesday evening, police said. It happened on the city's east side on Dickerson near Essex Avenue.

Darius Lacy is in custody in connection to the shooting of the child, who was hit in the leg at Jefferson Square Apartments on the east side. The child is expected to recover.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night involving a 2-year-old boy and his parents. According to WDIV-Detroit, the incident took place around 7 p.m. at a residence in the 553 block of Dickerson Avenue.

It is unknown how the 16-year-old got ahold of the gun and if it was secured before the shooting. Police do not believe the shooting was intentional.

On Wednesday, police gave an update on the investigation after a 2-year-old boy was shot in Detroit on Tuesday evening.

The teen was in a home on the 18800 block of St. Aubin around 9:46 p.m. Monday when the gun he had been handling accidentally discharged and struck his 12-year-old cousin in the upper arm, Worthy's office said in a press release.
