A Michigan State University student who witnessed the deadly shooting has filed a $50 million lawsuit, alleging that university officials failed to implement security measures that could have prevented the tragic incident from happening.

Students Maddy Garneau and Grace DeMilio said one of the reasons they chose MSU was due to how the university handled the aftermath of the shooting.

Michigan State’s campus is open on Feb. 13, 2025, including dining halls, mental health services, recreational sports facilities and public transportation.
