Ahmed Basheer Awad, 20, of Westbrook, is accused of shooting another person inside the mall Wednesday afternoon.

The South Portland Police Department says the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting in the Maine Mall is in custody and will be arraigned Friday. Police say 20-year-old Ahmed Basheer Awad turned himself in at Cumberland County Jail around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
