For those in the northern states, the aurora borealis, or northern lights, are likely to appear this week, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center.

Skywatchers in parts of the U.S. might witness a rare Northern Lights display tonight, June 25, due to an incoming geomagnetic storm. NOAA forecasts the aurora borealis could be visible as far south as the Midwest and Northeast.
