More than 100 Catholiuc Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Webelos received a religious emblem Sunday. The ceremony took place at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati.

It was especially meaningful to one Palm Coast Boy Scout. Corey Prior was awarded the God and Church Religious Emblem during Scout Sunday services at his church, Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church.

Neither the traditional Navajo spiritual way of life nor the Native American Church are among the 35 religious affiliations represented in emblems approved by the Boy Scouts of America.

The scouts received their emblems after several months of study with Rev. Deats, which included Bible reading, prayer, projects, and lessons about the Anglican Church.

David D. Volp, 15, a DeLand High School student and member of the Boy Scout troop sponsored by the Lutheran Church of Providence, is the first youth in the area to receive the Lutheran living faith… ...
