Discord is about to change how accounts access certain features, and millions of users may need to take a new step to keep using the platform as usual.
In order to unlock all these restrictions, users will need to verify their adulthood via something called “age assurance,” which can be done in one of two ways: taking a video selfie for facial age estimation, or submitting an identity document to Discord’s vendor partners.
Big changes are coming to Discord next month. The company behind one of the most popular voice and chat services on the planet announced that all new and existing Discord users will soon have to prove their age via face scan or ID to gain access to the entirety of the app.
