The Medina County Health Department is warning the public about West Nile virus concerns after the most recent round of surveillance testing.

Health experts in Midland held a press conference reminding the public about how they can keep themselves safe from the West Nile virus. Tyler Collins, an epidemiologist with Midland Health Services,

The county says West Nile virus is not unusual here. They set up traps around the county and send samples to the state to be tested. The last time a person in Pitt County was infected was just last year when two people tested positive. Officials say over the last 25 years, four people have tested positive in Pitt County.
