Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews battled the blaze that covered an area on Fremont and Tower streets beginning at about 1 a.m. Officials said the fire started in a building that was under construction.

The fire broke out at a building near Fremont and Maryland Parkway just after 4:30 p.m. Las Vegas police have shut down roads in the area as fire crews get a handle on the fire.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A large fire shut down traffic in downtown Las Vegas for several hours on New Year's Eve. The fire was first reported at approximately 4:43 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
