A new study using NASA's and DLR's now-retired Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has pieced together the first detailed, wide-area map of water distribution on the Moon.

NASA released an update of its Artemis III moon landing regions. The agency will likely explore one of these nine candidate areas this decade as it establishes a permanent presence on the moon.

So some fine tuning was in order. We first learned of the main locations NASA is targeting for a Moon landing back in 2022, when no less than 13 areas were announced as potentially suitable.
