A 1936 poster, designed by Gert Sellheim, one of 58 pieces displayed in “Art Deco: Commercializing the Avant-Garde,” opening Sept. 28 at Poster House in Manhattan.
The Michelin Man - officially called Bibendum -- was introduced in 1894 by cartoonist Marius Rossilon. The poster dates back to 1910 and is the oldest in the exhibition at hotel 45 Park Lane.
