Sevier County and state leaders are working to update the county's flood map, aiming to reduce flood risk following recent heavy rains and flooding in the area.

A community meeting was held Thursday in Sevier County to discuss a proposed housing development East of Sevierville. The proposal generating a lot of unrest among area residents.

The City of Sevierville has filed a lawsuit seeking to remove a large flagpole at the RV rental company Camping World, which it said violates the city’s zoning ordinance.

Local fire departments and the Tennessee National Guard are fighting several wildfires in Sevier County, near Gatlinburg, as well as near Tellico Plains in Monroe County and Mountain City.
