Accumulating light snow tonight into early tomorrow should bring a general coating to 2 inches within one county of the Beltway. After Saturday’s gusts, Sunday is gem-like with sun, milder air and calmer conditions.

Light snow is expected to start falling between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in central NC Friday, from southwest to northeast. The wintry precip should start falling in Raleigh and the Triangle around 7 p.m. Friday, the Weather Service said.

While the snow is expected to cover the entire state of Vermont, this weekend's snowfall will be calm, with no strong winds to create a storm and only a small amount of accumulation. Here's what to know about the timing,

Charlotte and surrounding areas are under a winter storm warning through Saturday morning, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Expect impacts to the Friday commutes, especially morning and midday travel. Locations along and south/east of I-55 will likely see the highest snow totals in the 1-3" range. Areas north and west of I-55 will only see a dusting to an inch.

Snow will overspread the state from southeast to northwest between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. as lows fall into the 20s, the weather service said. Snow wind down between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday. Friday will be dry and sunny with highs climbing into the mid-to-upper 30s. Winds will be “noticeably lighter,” the weather service said.

Parts of North Texas have already seen a significant amount of snow, with more expected in the coming hours. Snow has been falling in Denton and Collin County for a decent amount of the day, while Tarrant County and Dallas County have seen less.
