Toyota, Suzuki, and Daihatsu Motor just shared that they've worked together to develop a fully electric vehicle platform. It will be used for next-gen mini-commercial electric vans.
Japanese automakers Suzuki Motor, Daihatsu Motor and Toyota Motor jointly announced that they aim to launch new jointly-developed battery-powered mini commercial vans under their respective brands ...
The first model will be manufactured by Daihatsu while Toyota and Suzuki will subsequently release theirs by Q4, 2023. A minimum 200km range on a full charge is expected for the new electric minivans.
Affectionately dubbed the “half-loaf”, the Carry van was a mini-minibus with a second-row bench seat and a decent amount of boot space behind it. The Suzuki Eeco is only sold as a panel van.
The van weighs just under 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs.) and does 20-70 mph (32-112 mph) in 10.6 seconds. Admittedly, it’s not that speedy, but I bet it feels much faster when on board.
