It seems like the TAIG CNC mini mill offers the best price and quality (i.e. precision & machine workmanship) after searching the web. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Pre-2016, those open source tools often included LinuxCNC, and “the right parts” usually involved both a retrofitted Taig Desktop CNC Milling Machine and GeckoDrive motor controllers.
