Derrick Meggit is the managing director of a family trout farming business about 20 kilometres below Lake Eildon. He told the inquiry that the the October 2022 flood event hit the business hard.

Lake Eildon, located in Victoria in the south east of the country, was pictured almost empty 15 years ago during terrible droughts in 2007. Then it was just 5.3% full, which is a record low.
