Turkey continues its bold moves toward becoming a truly dominant regional power. Turkey is producing new, advanced warships, next-generation warplanes, drones, and now main battle tanks (MBTs).

Turkey is poised to reshape the armored balance within NATO. After years of delay, the country will begin fielding its first domestically produced Altay main battle tanks in the third quarter of 2025.

NATO member Turkey (Türkiye) has announced that its armed forces will begin to receive an initial batch of 85 domestically-produced Altay main battle tanks (MBTs) in the coming months.

Turkey received bids last Friday for the production of 500 Altay battle tanks, of which 250 are optional, Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli said on Wednesday.
