The Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Cooperstown rescued a civilian mariner off the coast of South Carolina while conducting routine operations Saturday, March 11, 2023.

South Carolina is extracting more toxic waste from WWII era aircraft carrier, USS. Yorktown to prevent leakage that would danger commercial shipping and coastal ecosystems.

Commissioned in 1910, it would be the lead ship of its class. USS South Carolina and Michigan were revolutionary at the time, in the U.S., as the nation’s first dreadnoughts.
