The third day of flight cuts during the ongoing government shutdown has caused thousands of cancellations and delays, sending some travelers scrambling.

American Airlines issued a statement Thursday regarding the FAA decision, confirming the carrier will maintain normal operations. The airline noted it anticipates minimal impact on the majority of flights from the reduction, with international travel continuing as scheduled.

The government shutdown has triggered 1,000-plus flight delays as the FAA cuts capacity at 40 airports. Airlines are offering refunds and policy changes amid ongoing travel disruptions.

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said the refund offer was available to any travelers who did not want to fly amidst newly announced restrictions.

As part of the process, United Airlines is publicly posting a list of affected flights on its website. As of Sunday, it showed which United flights have been canceled through Tuesday, Nov. 11.
