A preliminary finding into last month’s Air India plane crash has suggested the aircraft’s fuel control switches were turned off, causing a loss of engine thrust shortly after takeoff.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, during the early hours of June 12, released the preliminary investigation report of the Ahmedabad plane crash, which took place on June 12, 2025. The aircraft manufacturer Boeing on Saturday also said that it continues to support the ongoing investigation into the Air India Flight AI171 crash.

Authorities released the cause of the Air India crash in their preliminary report, following an investigation. The London-bound flight from Ahmedabad crashed moments into the June 12 flight. Only one passenger of the 242 passengers and flight crew survived.
