In his 51st career start, Garrett Crochet accomplished two feats in one dominant outing: his first career complete game and first career shutout. And that was all the Boston Red Sox needed to walk away with a 1-0 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.

Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet recorded his first career complete game Saturday. He allowed just three hits while striking out nine in a 1-0 win over the Rays here at Fenway Park. But the shutout wouldn’t have happened if not for first baseman Abraham Toro throwing out a runner at the plate in the sixth inning.

In Crochet's first complete game of any sort, he allowed three hits, all singles, and struck out nine while not allowing a walk. “It’s incredibly satisfying,” he said.
