The winter storm moving across the United States, bringing frigid temperatures to the East Coast, is causing some delays and cancellations in Hampton Roads. A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina from 5 p.

Boogie boards, sheet pans, cardboard boxes and pool floaties — for the children of Ghent, just about any flat surface became a sled. Over the course of Tuesday night, several inches fell over Hampton Roads.

Troopers responded to 492 incidents in Hampton Roads and surrounding counties between Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Of those, 83 were crashes.
