Box office actuals are in, and Disney's blockbuster sequel "Moana 2" has once again beaten estimates to become the biggest opening weekend in animated cinema history.

The three movies brought in a combined $420 million to the box office during Thanksgiving weekend — surpassing the previous record of $315.6 million from 2018, when “Creed II,” “Ralph Breaks the Internet” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” were all in theaters.

In a sign of the company's changing streaming strategy, Disney pivoted 'Moana 2' from a series to a big-screen film. The move has paid off at the box office.
