Alizee Thevenet, James Middleton’s wife and sister-in-law to Kate Middleton, made her first trip to Royal Ascot today. Arriving with her mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, Thevenet joined the royal family and other guests in the Royal Enclosure for the second day of the annual thoroughbred race at Ascot Racecourse.

As Prince William arrived at the event alone, a friend told Vanity Fair that the Princess of Wales has already been busier this year than previously expected.

Kate, who shares three young children with William, has made a gradual return to public engagements this year since announcing in January that she is in remission from cancer. Kate has not shared details of the type of cancer with which she was diagnosed, though she has shared she underwent chemotherapy treatment.
