The DNR says they have many positions available for someone looking to get into a new field of work or a summer gig.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has confirmed positive cases of the bird flu in 5 counties, including Eaton and Ionia County. Ingham and Shiawassee Counties could be added to that list.

HPAI, commonly known as bird flu, is a highly contagious respiratory disease that causes sickness and sometimes death in birds and mammals. Since December 2024, wild bird mortality cases have increased across the state, particularly among Canada geese, trumpeter swans, and scavenging birds.

The Michigan DNR advises waterfowl hunters on precautions against bird flu due to cases in wild and domestic birds, including cooking meat properly and wearing gloves when handling birds.

With a little help from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, a native fish that was once considered “extinct” from state waters is working to make a comeback.

MICHIGAN, USA — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) shared that they be will raising camping and overnight lodging fees starting Aug. 1, 2025. This price hike marks the first increase in three years to support state park operations.

The state-designated trails are open from Dec. 1 through March 31 at sites such as Outdoor Adventure Center along Detroit's riverfront, Lake Hudson Recreation Area and Waterloo Recreation Area. Although the trail permits are not required during Free Snowmobile Weekend, all other snowmobile regulations such as age restrictions still apply.
