A mourning outfit worn by Queen Victoria, including a skirt with a 43in (109cm) waist, has been sold in Derbyshire.

Sara Rivers Cofield, a vintage custome collecter bought a Victorian dress from the Maine antique mall. The dress was from the 1880s and it featured a fitted bodice, puffy bustle and lace cuffs.

A dress from the 1880s had a hidden pocket and an unbreakable code. The silk dress cryptogram was recently broken, but some mysteries remain.

The dress had been in the possession of the South Derbyshire homeowner since the 1970s, but the garments themselves date back to the 1880s - a decade before Queen Victoria's own diamond jubilee.
