The doors of Colorado's most visited man-made attraction, the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel, have officially closed.

One of Colorado's most iconic attractions is getting a makeover. The United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel will be out of commission for an estimated four years while the work happens.

The United States Air Force Academy’s Cadet Chapel will remain open through the summer as the school seeks $68 million to renovate the architectural marvel just north of Colorado Springs.

The chapel, which was originally scheduled to close for renovations on Jan. 1, 2019, will remain open for cadets, tourists and regular services until June 17.
