Camp Mystic Director Dies in Texas Flooding Amid Effort to Rescue Children
Eastland, 70, was the camp director and bought the camp in 1974. When floodwaters swept through his Christen summer camp, he tried to save the lives of his young campers and gave his life in the process, Fox News reported. Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas) wrote of Eastland’s devotion to the camp.

Her father, Ty Badon, joined the search for his daughter in Hunt, Texas, and told CNN that while calling out her name he ended up discovering the body of a young boy, who is believed to have died in the flood. Husband and wife Bobby Martin, 46, and Amanda Martin, 44, also lost their lives, Mr Martin's father told the New York Times.
