AFTER 16 months of motorists’ misery and nearby residents’ respite, Guildford’s Castle Arch has finally reopened to vehicles.
Surrey County Council closed Castle Hill to traffic and pedestrians, and Guildford council repaired the arch with approval from English Heritage. The archway is a remnant of the town's castle wall.
