The Cocke County Long-Term Recovery Group is receiving a $1.75 million grant from the Tennessee Governor’s Response and Recovery Fund, according to a press release.

The closure is near the Tennessee/North Carolina state line, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

I-40 in Cocke County is closed due to flooding and a rockslide. TDOT crews are working on solutions, advising drivers to use alternate routes and avoid the area.

The Cocke County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating after a man was found dead near Messer Branch Road, CCSO said.

Cocke County leaders said this time around, repairs shouldn't take more than a few weeks. On Wednesday, flooding and a rockslide shut down I-40 near the Tennessee and North Carolina state line.
