Longford’s tourism and arts sector is on the crest of a wave after more than 10,000 people attended a “tremendously successful” lights festival over the weekend.

Longford town is the place to be this Friday evening as multiple events take place to herald the arrival of the busy festive season and the eagerly awaited switching on of its Christmas lights.

The Longford Lights Festival is taking place on the site of the former army barracks in the town and involves international and national artists.
