Walmart said the average store manager’s salary will rise to $128,000 from $117,000 as the world’s largest retailer looks to attract and retain workers in a tight labor environment.

Walmart's U.S. CEO John Furner announced Monday morning in a surprise to many that store managers would get salary increases and a bonus program that adds up to 200% of their annual salary.

Getting a six-figure salary is nearly impossible without a college degree in the U.S., but Whole Foods would like to change the narrative for those who are driven and hard-working.
