Utah State will welcome its inaugural cohort to the state's first four-year veterinary degree program in August, at a time where licensed vets are in high demand in Utah's rural communities.

Former Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour has been appointed interim athletic director at Utah State, university interim president Al Smith announced Friday morning.

LOGAN, Utah (KUTV) — Sandy Barbour, former vice president for intercollegiate athletics at Penn State University, has been appointed interim athletic director at Utah State University.

A horseback rider was rescued after the horse he was riding fell on top of him and crushed him in the Utah mountains, officials said.

He is a Utah State University employee who was doing surveys on horseback with the Division of Natural Resources, KSTU reported.
