Maria was born in the Soviet Union, also the daughter of Olga Anisimova and Konsantin Anisimov. In 1998, when she was ten years old, her parents moved from Russia to the United States. Three years later, she became a big sister, when Amanda was born.

Amanda Anisimova booked her place in a maiden Grand Slam final after defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in an epic semifinal clash at the 2025 Wimbledon.

Either Amanda Anisimova or Iga Swiatek will leave the All England Club's grass courts as Wimbledon's eighth consecutive first-time women's champion.
