KKR has secured enough shares to take Fuji Soft private, days after rival Bain Capital dropped out from a bidding war for the Japanese software company valued at more than $4 billion.

TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. private equity firm KKR has secured a 57.92% stake in Fuji Soft after the second stage of its tender offer bid, ending a fierce battle with rival Bain Capital to take the Japanese software developer private.

Bain Capital said it will give up its pursuit of Fuji Soft Inc., ending a months-long bidding war with KKR & Co. to take the Japanese software company private.

KKR secures a 57.92% stake in Fuji Soft after a heated takeover battle with Bain, marking another major private equity deal in Japan.

Completion of the two-stage offer will give KKR a 57.92% stake in the Japanese software company, the New York-based firm said in a statement on Thursday. It aims to acquire the remaining shares through a squeeze-out process at an extraordinary shareholder meeting scheduled for late April.

U.S. private equity firm, Bain Capital, announced on Monday that it will not proceed with a tender offer for Japanese IT company, Fuji Soft, marking the end of a prolonged takeover battle with rival firm KKR.
