Sudan's military has been accused of carrying out an air strike on a marketplace in the western region of Darfur in which more than 100 people were reportedly killed. The Emergency Lawyers rights group described the bombing in Kabkabiya town on Monday,

“Our humanitarian colleagues tell us that there were also reports yesterday that at least 20 people were killed by heavy artillery fire in Omdurman in Khartoum State, in an area controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces,” Dujarric quoted OCHA.

Sudanese military aircraft launched a series of air strikes on several towns in Sudan’s Darfur region on Monday, killing dozens of civilians, witnesses and activists said. The attacks are the latest in an escalating campaign of air strikes by the army on towns and villages controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group.

Tens of thousands have been killed and millions displaced in a 20-month war between the RSF and Sudan's regular army.
