Ranchi: Hemant Soren is set to take oath as the 14th chief minister of Jharkhand in a grand ceremony here on Thursday, which will be attended by several top political leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge,

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Hemant Soren is all set to take the oath as the Chief Minister at 4pm on Thursday. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at Ranchi's Morabadi Ground on Thursday. With this, Soren will mark his fourth term as the Jharkhand chief minister.

The oath will be administered to Hemant Soren by governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Ranchi's Morabadi Ground at 4pm.

Hours before taking oath as the 14th chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren on Thursday asserted that unity is the biggest weapon of people of the state, who can “neither be divided nor silenced”. In an apparent attack on the BJP-led central government, Soren also said whenever "they try to silence us", the revolution grows louder.

Hemant Soren, poised to become Jharkhand's 14th chief minister, emphasizes unity as a powerful force against division and silence. Amidst political challenges, his JMM-led alliance won the recent assembly elections decisively.

However, Soren will be alone in taking oath on Thursday as none of the Cabinet colleagues have been decided yet. Jharkhand ministry can have 11 Cabinet ministers. In the last tenure, six ministers were from the JMM while four were from the Congress. One berth went to the RJD. CPI-ML, which has two MLAs, will support the government from outside.

In the recently-concluded Jharkhand Assembly polls, Hemant Soren retained his Barhait seat by defeating BJP candidate Gamliyel Hembrom by more than 39,790 votes. His JMM-led coalition secured a total of 56 seats in the 81-member Assembly.

Hemant Soren, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has urged them to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new government.
