Auburn basketball forward Johni Broome added the Maui Invitational Most Valuable Player award to his trophy case last week and begins this week by taking home another accolade. Broome was named SEC Player of the Week by the league office on Monday.

American and national player of the year contender Johni Broome was named the SEC Player of the Week the league announced Monday afternoon.

The Plant City, Florida native averaged 21.7 points, 15 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3 blocks per game during the tournament and was crowned Maui Invitational MVP for his performance during the three days of play.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound fifth-year senior and preseason All-American has been dominant early for the No. 2 Tigers, including in powering them to the Maui Invitational title. He averaged 21.7 points,
