Call Alex Palou’s win at Iowa Speedway on Sunday afternoon ‘Lucky 7’. The reigning Indianapolis 500 champion used a perfectly-timed caution flag to win his seventh race of the IndyCar season. He’s the first driver to win seven of the first 12 races of a season since Al Unser Jr.

Palou benefitted from a pair of timely cautions to deny Josef Newgarden and David Malukas and claim Sunday’s Farm to Finish 275. The Spaniard had started from pole after a strong second lap in Saturday’s qualifying, but was overtaken twice by Newgarden during Sunday’s race.
