Joe Bihari, the music impresario behind hundreds of early rhythm and blues and rock n’roll sides on the small family of independent record labels he owned with his siblings, has died.

Joe Bihari, the New Orleans-bred co-founder (alongside his brothers Saul and Jules) of pioneering blues and R&B labels Modern Records and RPM Records, has died at the age of 88.

He says, “If I have to summarise Bihari cuisine, I will call it soul food, rather, soul-satisfying food. The dishes have no complex or confusing flavours and the variety speaks for itself.
