Les Varendes High School and the Sixth Form Centre will also have separate interim governing bodies from the autumn term.

Formerly the Cambridgeshire High School for Boys, founded in 1903, the Hills Road Sixth Form College acquired its present status in 1974, since when it has gone from strength to strength.

Originally Cambridgeshire High School for Girls, the institution transformed into Long Road Sixth Form College in 1974 with around 600 students - only 16 of whom were boys.
