A DeKalb County, Georgia, family’s wheelchair-lift-equipped van was stolen, making it impossible to transport a 23-year-old with a brain injury.

A fundraiser for the Dellingers, who are trying to buy a wheelchair lift for their van, will take place 1-4 p.m. Sept. 18 at Parchment High School.

The family needs about $26,000 to get a new van from Mobility Works in Allentown which specializes in wheelchair-accessible vans. The family has started a GoFundMe account to help raise the money.

The metal lift sat in the family's backyard and went missing sometime in the last two weeks, Nocera said. It was a backup in case she needed to replace the lift in her van.
