The widow of a North Carolina State Highway Patrol officer who died in 1948 received a gift from state officials on Thursday, after her late husband’s patrolman badge was stolen from her.

Rick, who worked for the Somerset Police Department from 1972 to 2000, gave his son an older sergeant's badge that he used to wear for special occasions when he was an officer.
