State law requires school boards to operate public schools for 180 days a year or the hourly equivalent, but schools are able to operate on year-round schedules, a House staff analysis said.

Falling Creek joined Bellwood Elementary by welcoming students back for the county’s year-round schooling program. Students spend their 180 days of instruction spread over four nine-week sessions.
