During a stop at a Massachusetts preschool on Monday, Second Gentleman Dough Emhoff had the chance to read one of his favorite children's books, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to a group of hungry kids.

“Our preschool is caterpillar-themed with all of his wonderful and inspiring books and educational activities,” wrote teacher Marion Butlin in the guestbook.

Eric Carle, the US author of best-selling children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has died aged 91. He died last Sunday, his family said.
