Staff collected samples of the adult zebra mussels in various locations and are currently evaluating options for the next steps in eradicating zebra mussels from the body of water.
The man, whose arm was nearly bitten off by a zebra he owned, called 911 to tell dispatchers what had happened on his property near Circleville.
“Understanding the current extent of zebra mussels in western Colorado is a critical step in stopping their spread into new locations,” said CPW Invasive Species Program Manager Robert Walters.
