COURCHEVEL, France -- Sara Hector ended a drought of nearly five years for the Swedish women's ski team by beating Mikaela Shiffrin in both runs of a World Cup giant slalom Wednesday.

Swedish skier Sara Hector held on to her first-run lead and beat Mikaela Shiffrin on Wednesday in a women’s World Cup giant slalom.

Shiffrin called the course set in the first run "very turning" and acknowledged Hector's near-flawless run. "She did obviously a spectacular job the first run. I felt very good," Shiffrin said.
