European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic expressed optimism that Washington and the EU were approaching a positive outcome for both sides. SEOUL, July 14 (Reuters) - South Korea's top trade envoy said on Monday it may be possible to strike an "in-principle" trade deal with the United States by an August 1 deadline and signalled Seoul may be open to allow greater access to its agriculture markets, local media reported.

The country’s new president, in office for a little over a month, had just dispatched his senior deputies to Washington to try to work out a trade deal.
